AMCHP's 2009 Conference will be an event to remember - the first national MCH conference post-Election Day 2008. The conference will highlight important trends and things to consider moving into a new era in Washington and across the nation. Inaugural International Indigenous Women's Health Meeting

Join the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada, in cooperation with the Indian Health Service and the First Nations Inuit Health Branch, Health Canada, for the 1st International Meeting on Indigenous Women's Health. Women's health providers and researchers dedicated to working with American Indian, Alaska Native, First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children and families are encouraged to attend. Participants will have the opportunity to share model programs and research, and develop practical skills that can be utilized in community and health care settings. National Conference of State Legislatures Spring Forum

Join state legislators and legislative staff from all over the country as they share their experiences with shaping public policy, crafting new laws and managing the legislative institution at the 2009 Spring Forum meeting of NCSL's Standing Committees. Everyone is welcome. NCSL's twelve Standing Committees, with jurisdictions similar to those of state legislative committees, meet at the Spring Forum to discuss critical issues facing the states. The Standing Committees develop policies that guide NCSL's lobbying efforts in Washington, D.C. A new year, a new administration, a new location for the Spring Forum. NCSL's Spring Forum is moving to a new location. This year's meeting, and the meeting in 2010, will be held at the Marriott Wardman Park in the Woodley Park area in northwest Washington, D.C.

Symposium on Quality Improvement to Prevent Prematurity

This Symposium will explore the present state of quality initiatives to prevent preterm birth and develop an agenda for action to decrease the rate of those preterm births that are not inevitable or medically necessary. The Symposium will bring together a multidisciplinary group of health care practitioners, health insurers, policy makers, health purchasers, regulators and concerned citizens to discuss quality improvement as an essential component in the strategy to prevent prematurity, promote health and save costs. It will be a forum where experts and stakeholders can:
  • Share ideas and challenges
  • Describe model programs that have successfully improved the nature and quality of patient care and services targeted to prematurity prevention
  • Recommend quality improvement action plans
This event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Arlington, VA, and has been organized by March of Dimes in collaboration with American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Nurse-Midwives, and Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.

International Stillbirth Alliance Conference 2010

The 2010 ISA conference will be held jointly with the International Society for the Study and Prevention of Infant Deaths (ISPID) in Australia in October 2010. The conference will focus on Connecting for life in preventing stillbirth and infant death and ensuring optimal bereavement support for families. The Conference themes will encompass the problems faced by the diverse populations of the Australasian region. The Conference Committee will announce the “east coast” conference destination and the main conference themes at the Oslo Conference in November. Hosting of the conference will be shared across The Australia and New Zealand Stillbirth Alliance and member organisations: Bonnie Babes Foundation Inc., SANDS Australia and New Zealand, Stillbirth Foundation Australia and SIDS and Kids (SIDS and Kids are also hosting the ISPID component).
The 2010 Conference Committee welcomes you to Connect for life with friends and colleagues (new and old) “downunder” in 2010. We promise great Aussie hospitality, warm weather, Koala cuddling and a range of parochial culinary delights and an opportunity to build on the work underway in making a difference to the global challenge of stillbirth and infant death.
