Nationwide Calendar
Organizations whose work is related to SIDS, SUID, infant mortality, safe sleep, and goals that are important to the SIDS/ID community are invited to submit events to be included on the Nationwide Calendar by sending us an email.
Reproductive Health 2009 is a partnership among the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals, the Planned Parenthood® Federation of America National Medical Committee, and the Society of Family Planning. This is the 5th joint annual meeting of these three organizations, taking place in Los Angeles, CA.

This Symposium will explore the present state of quality initiatives to prevent preterm birth and develop an agenda for action to decrease the rate of those preterm births that are not inevitable or medically necessary. The Symposium will bring together a multidisciplinary group of health care practitioners, health insurers, policy makers, health purchasers, regulators and concerned citizens to discuss quality improvement as an essential component in the strategy to prevent prematurity, promote health and save costs. It will be a forum where experts and stakeholders can:
- Share ideas and challenges
- Describe model programs that have successfully improved the nature and quality of patient care and services targeted to prematurity prevention
- Recommend quality improvement action plans
This event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Arlington, VA, and has been organized by March of Dimes in collaboration with American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Nurse-Midwives, and Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.

This conference will bring together clinical, social, programmatic, epidemiological and policy experts at the national, state, and local levels to present best practices, promising new interventions, community engagement models, and policy interventions to improve healthy birth outcomes, and methods to address racial and ethnic disparities that affect birth outcomes. Conference attendees will better understand the link between prematurity and birth defects, why improved preconception and interconception care programs must be implemented in the community, and the major factors leading to healthy birth outcomes. This event will take place at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

This workshop is open to anyone who wants to start their own Share Group, hospital chaplains, social workers, counselors, nurses, and bereaved parents. The Sharing and Caring workshop is a weekend-long intensive training that gives anyone who works with grieving families the tools they need to work with families effectively, run support groups, and gain the support of their hospital staff. This event will take place at the St. Charles Convention Center of St. Charles, MO.
The APHA Annual Meeting & Exposition is the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world, attracting more than 13,000 national and international physicians, administrators, nurses, educators, researchers, epidemiologists, and related health specialists. APHA's meeting program addresses current and emerging health science, policy, and practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and promote health. APHA has a world of public health in store for you. This year's meeting will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA.

The theme encompasses several areas that are related to NHSA's vision of reducing infant mortality nationwide and improving perinatal health disparities, such as preconception and interconception health care and services, perinatal and postpartum depression, and male involvement and fatherhood initiatives. 2010 AWHONN Convention - Sharing Science, Finding Solutions
The 2010 AWHONN Program Committee seeks volunteer presenters for the Annual Convention to be held June 12-16, 2010 in Nashville, TN. AWHONN is the leading professional association for nurses who specialize in the care of women and newborns. Our members include neonatal nurses, women’s health nurses, OB-GYN and labor and delivery nurses, nurse researchers and educators, nurse executives and managers, childbirth educators, clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners and nurse-midwives. Our national conference draws over 3,000 attendees of whom 72% have 15 or more years of experience and 38% have a masters degree or higher.

The 2010 ISA conference will be held jointly with the International Society for the Study and Prevention of Infant Deaths (ISPID) in Australia in October 2010. The conference will focus on Connecting for life in preventing stillbirth and infant death and ensuring optimal bereavement support for families. The Conference themes will encompass the problems faced by the diverse populations of the Australasian region. The Conference Committee will announce the “east coast” conference destination and the main conference themes at the Oslo Conference in November. Hosting of the conference will be shared across The Australia and New Zealand Stillbirth Alliance and member organisations: Bonnie Babes Foundation Inc., SANDS Australia and New Zealand, Stillbirth Foundation Australia and SIDS and Kids (SIDS and Kids are also hosting the ISPID component).
