NFIMR and ASIP's Cross Cultural Expressions of Grief

Cross Cultural Expressions of Grieving and Loss is an online bulletin reviewing cultural traditions of Latino, African American, North America tribal and Muslim families grieving the loss of an infant. It identifies simple strategies health care providers can use to begin the process of providing culturally competent support to them. It also aims to encourage networking and sharing among providers who assist the bereaved. .

Bereavement Support

Project IMPACT assists State SIDS and Infant Death Programs to build on resources by providing exposure and accesss to strategies and materials for Bereavement Support for families suffering the death of an infant.

The Association of SIDS and Infant Mortality Programs (ASIP) and the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) together developed a resource for clinicians that provides the latest in evidence-based protocols for bereavement support in infant death. The Tool Card is available in PDF format. However, the pocket sized laminated cards are no longer available for bulk orders.

ACU-ASIP_Bereavement

Bereavement Support for the Family Suffering the Death of an Infant offers a ready reference for best practices, and the card and PDF can be adapted to include contact information for a local SIDS and Infant Death program. (If you need assistance identifying resources in your state, go to State Contacts & Information on this website.) These tools are part of the ACU’s Quick Reference Card Series for Family and Preventive Health.
